SilverFast AACO is an excellent tool to lighten up shadow areas, which are too dark, without changing mid-tones and highlights. Thus, image details get visible in dark, low-contrast image areas that otherwise would remain hidden.
The SilverFast AACO automatic starts to work, once the AACO feature is activated. Turn it off and on with the check mark in the tool dock to visualize the effect in the preview window. Some slider controls allow a manual fine-tuning. AACO in SilverFast SE 8 and SE Plus 8 If you are not completely satisfied with the automatic AACO effect, use the Strength slider to adjust a stronger or weaker AACO effect. Use the Shadow Width slider to specify how far the effect extends into the mid tones. AACO in SilverFast Ai Studio 8 SilverFast Ai Studio offers two additional slider controls with the AACO expert dialog. If you notice a loss of saturation in the shadow areas, use the Saturation slider to achieve more vibrant colors in the dark areas. The Radius Level slider defines the size of the shadow region to which the AACO effect applies.
