For calibrating your scanner, we recommend our patented and award-winning Auto IT8 Calibration using a calibration target from our own production in combination with SilverFast Ai Studio or Archive Suite. Accurate brilliant colors with so little effort. (There are third-party targets included with the scanner, which are not suitable for the SilverFast Auto IT8 Calibration.)
For transparency mode, the Epson Perfection V850 Pro features two different focus levels. Select scan mode “Transparency”, if you want to use a filmholder. In this case, the focus of the scanner optics is precisely adjusted to the film holder. Use scan mode “Wide Transparency” only, if you want to place transparent originals directly on the flatbed.

The Archive Suite is a software package for scanning and optimization. Using the batch scan functionality with automatic frame detection, the Epson V850 Pro is ideal for archiving large image collections into SilverFast’s own HDRi RAW data format. The optimum basis for an effective, non-destructive optimization workflow. I often had devices by Epson and the truth is that I never had any problems with them. I decided to get the V850 since it comes with SilverFast and I have never regretted it. Having used it for several months, I went for the Ai Studio upgrade and a target. The reason being that I always had trouble with i1 and in SilverFast the IT8 calibration works automatically. I can definitely recommend both, scanner and software, unconditionally.
