All about SilverFast HDR 8 & HDR Studio 8

On August 17th, scanner software SilverFast 8 has been released. SilverFast 8 is not just a conventional program update, but a complete redevelopement using modern software technology. SilverFast 8 supports the most important scanners and is running on all current Windows and Mac operating systems.

SilverFast HDR Studio 8 Public Software Pre-Release
|
Image editing software SilverFast HDR 8 and HDR Studio 8 are currently in development. We would like to give our customers an opportunity to test our new tools in advance and to actively participate in the development process by giving feedback.
Important information and data relating to 
- SilverFast HDR Studio 8 is available for free downloading as part of a public software pre-release.
- The HDR Studio 8 pre-release version offers all users the opportunity to test the new tools and to provide feedback that will contribute to the further development.
- The HDR Studio 8 pre-release version does not contain the full functionality of the later SilverFast HDR 8 and HDR Studio 8 versions. For example, the virtual light table is initially not included, for it beeing expanded to a central workflow hub in terms of function and performance.
- Goal to achieve is to implement the full functionality of SilverFast HDR (Studio) 6.6 into SilverFast HDR (Studio) 8 and to add many new and innovative features.
- SilverFast HDR Studio 8 pre-release runs on Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and thus constitutes a free interim solution for all users, who can no longer use SilverFast HDR (Studio) 6.6 under Lion.
- At least until the end of the pre-release phase, SilverFast HDR (Studio) 6.6 will be fully compatible with HDR/HDRi files generated with scanner software SilverFast 8.
- The duration of free SilverFast HDR Studio 8 pre-release version is limited. After expiration of the pre-release phase, the software can no longer be started.
- SilverFast HDR (Studio) 6.6 and SilverFast HDR Studio 8 pre-release version can be installed and used in parallel.
SilverFast HDR Studio 8 Public Software Pre-Release Update
Development of the Pre-Release version of SilverFast HDR Studio 8 continues. We appreciate all your cooperation and received feedback. Update to version 8.0.1r4 brings:
- A time extension of the Pre-Release version. This new version extends your trial period for another 30 days.
- Bug fix: Opening 16bit HDR greyscale image file prior to color images led SilverFast HDR Studio 8 Pre-Release to believe all subsequent images to be of the same type. This appeared to be a cache problem solved in this version.
- Bug fix: Infrared channel of HDRi images created with SilverFast 6.6 under Windows appeared to be ignored by SilverFast HDR Studio 8 Pre-Release. This led to a non-correction or malfunctioning of iSRD and is now fixed.
- Performance improvement: Some internal processes have been accelerated by up to 100%.
- Bug fix: Previously, the infrared channel of HDRi images was shown partially shifted. This is now corrected.

SilverFast 8 is available for Mac and PC systems. The following minimum equipment is required to use SilverFast 8 without restrictions:
- OS: Apple Mac OS X from 10.5 (Intel Mac only) or Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7
- Processor: min: 2 GHz [recommended: Dual Core > 2,5 GHz]
- RAM: min: 2 GB [recommended: 4 GB]
- HDD: min: 10 GB [recommended: 25 GB]
- DVD drive or internet connection
- Recommended: Color calibrated monitor
