The DigitDia 5000 as the successor of the DigitDia 4000 has an improved data access and better scanning speed. The automatic feeding from slide magazines with capacities of up to 100 slides facilitates scanning of small picture slides immensely.
We recommend to operate the DigitDia 5000 with the SilverFast Archive Suite. Whole magazines of slides are stored in batch mode as HDRi RAW data, while Multi-Exposure ensures maximum dynamic range. The image optimization can take place also in batch mode at any time later, automatically freed of dust and scratches using iSRD.
SilverFast ADF Scan
ADF is an abbreviation for “Automatic Document Feeder“. The DigitDia 5000 film scanner is able to feed in small format slides automatically. This means, the user does not have to transport the filmholder from image to image by hand, but controls the feeder with SilverFast. This manual describes how to use the SilverFast ADF functionality.

One of the most influential pieces of technology to my career is SilverFast. It changed the way I work and using it started me on the journey I have gone on with post processing my images. What SilverFast does to a file is equivalent to putting on sunglasses on a very bright day. It helps you see the image most clearly.
SilverFast is the scanner software that actually delivers perfect scans right from the start as others like VueScan failed miserably in my test with them regarding accuracy in color representation.
With the optionally available Archive Suite (a combination of SilverFast Ai Studio and SilverFast HDR Studio) it is also possible to make RAW scans, in order to do the processing later in the HDR software. With the option to scan films in the HDRi format you have the possibility, to use the information of the infrared channel in an optimal way in the postprocessing. For the professional use it is recommended by all means to use the Archive Suite.
