Microtek

Microtek successfully manufactures film and especially flatbed scanners, which often also feature a transparency unit, since many years.

Microtek offers different kinds of scanners suitable to various needs. The devices range from low priced models for beginners to big sized DIN A3 scanners for professionals. For perfect scans SilverFast is bundled with many scanners.
Microtek ArtixScan M1The M1 as the successor to the i900 is on the market since 2007. It is also specialized for the digitization of film, which is unusual for a flatbed scanner. Therefore, the built-in Auto Focus function allows it to scan without glass.

But it took some hours to get to that point of discovery, so hopefully I can save those of you who are at my level of (in)expertise a lot of pain and frustration.
