Fine lines in highres scans with Nikon LS-8000 and LS-9000
SymptomSymptom:
My Nikon Super Coolscan LS-8000 or LS-9000 shows very subtle lines on high resolution scans.
ProblemProblem:
The problem with thin lines in high resolution scans that might occur with the Nikon Super Coolscan LS-8000 or LS-9000 unfortunately is hardware related.

These scanners use three CCD rows for scanning. If they cannot be correctly synchronized, the above noted issue appears.
There's a so-called "super fine scan mode" as a kind of a workaround. In this mode only one CCD is used and the lines should be gone.

SolutionSolution:
Enabling this "Super Fine Scan" mode of course is possible in SilverFast, too.

You need to call the SilverFast options dialog.
On the "Special" tab there's the relevant option you want.
Please note that scanning speed will be reduced in this mode.
