SilverFast 8 ADF Scan
ADF is an abbreviation for “Automatic Document Feeder“. The Pacific Image Electronics PIE PowerSlide X film scanner is able to feed in small and medium format slides or filmstrips automatically. This means, the user does not have to transport the filmholder from image to image by hand, but controls the feeder with SilverFast 8. This manual describes how to use the SilverFast 8 ADF functionality.
With the introduction of the PowerSlide scanner, PIE has presented the very first scanner that can scan directly from the magazine. This allows to scan large image archives automatically and with high quality within a very short time. An ideal assistance for this task are the SilverFast image automatics, which ensure a smooth scanning process. In addition, there are further important features such as the patented SilverFast Multi-Exposure®, which increases the Dynamic Range of the scanner from 2.8 (631 grayscales) to 3.75 (5,623 grayscales) [Measurement by LaserSoft Imaging]. More information on how the Dynamic Range affects image quality can be found here.
I’m using this PIE medium format scanners for a year now and I’m thrilled with the opportunities I have with SilverFast. The image automatics work almost perfectly, 90% of all images I do not need to optimize any further. And even old photographies with really strong color casts I can get completely restored.
Sandy Gutt, Customer
I found Pacific Image Electronics’ PrimeFilm to have a remarkable collection of features at a remarkably low price. A scanner is only as good as its driver, and getting SilverFast to drive it was a genuine surprise, and a very pleasant one. You can bet that when people ask me to recommend a modestly priced film scanner in the future they will hear me singing the praises of this one.
