PIE states a Dynamic Range of 3.9 for the PrimeFilm XEs. This is a very high value, which promises very good results. In practice however, such a density range can hardly be realized with a single scan. Using the double scan functionality of our patented SilverFast Multi-Exposure it is something completely different. Multi-Exposure (included with SilverFast SE Plus, Ai Studio and with the Archive Suite) significantly increases the actually achievable Dynamic Range of a scanner.
The PIE PRIMEFILM XES SUPER EDITION is designed as a large format scanner for graphic arts scanning. In addition, an optional transparency unit turns it into an archiving solution for slides, negatives and filmstrips as well. Using different film holders, the batch scans up to fourty-eight 35mm negatives, thirty 35mm slides, eight 4×5” transparencies or six medium-format transparencies.
