PrinTao is the new professional printing function of SilverFast Ai Studio, SilverFast DCPro Studio and SilverFast HDR Studio, introducing layout functionality for images and text. No additional layout software needed for many workflow requirements. Take advantage of PrinTao: You are able to create your individual layouts with text and images at a high efficiency. DCVLT/HDR/DCPro:
It is now possible to determine the way and order, in which the file name will be constructed (index at the end of the file name or at the beginning, prefix/suffix). The start index can be negative or zero, too. By clicking a checkbox the software is able to use (only for film scanners) the real image (frame) number instead of a sequential number.

JobManager Changes:
These above described possibilities are also available from the JobManager. The "Choose folder" button now functions as an "Output settings" button. A file format popup is no longer necessary, as it can be chosen in the output settings dialog, too.

Enhanced Automatic Descreening:
The new enhanced descreening is able to auto-detect the screen of the original. The user is able to apply it as a full automated function without any necessary adjustments or as half automated version with auto-detection and user individual settings in a dialog.

Professionals and their comments about SilverFast:
SilverFast PhotoProof makes the handling of the print and it's result predictable and safe. It is not necessary to handle any external devices or extra software. So it is easy and fast to reach your objective.


The new multisampling feature in SF Studio appears in my testing to be a real breakthrough. Has anyone or does anyone have the time to do a heads up comparison to noise reduction capabilities of the new SF Studio and Vuescan? It would be hard to surpass the noise reduction of SF Studio.

My tests also reveal that with SF Studio you get the most noise reduction in RGB files (noise is virtually eliminated completely) even if you are looking for a grayscale image as the final product. So I am scanning 4x5 b & w negs as 48bit RGB files with 16 sampling passes and then converting them to 16 bit grayscale. The exact opposite was true with former SF AI 6. You would get much less noise with grayscale scans with SF AI 6.
