Successful SilverFast Training at the Akademie für Fotografie in Hamburg
At the invitation of managing directors Frank Becker and André Hemstedt, a hands-on SilverFast software training session was held at the Akademie für Fotografie in Hamburg on August 19, 2026. Product Manager Alexander Sievers-Horn and Head of Marketing Philipp Haarländer introduced the students to the fundamentals of scanning and demonstrated SilverFast’s wide range of capabilities during the three-hour session. The academy’s modern training facilities provided an ideal setting for a lively exchange about digitizing analog originals.
Using an Epson V750 flatbed scanner, the participants were able to experience SilverFast in action. Slides and negatives were scanned, while key features such as Image Auto Adjustment, WorkflowPilot, and the iSRD and SRDx tools for dust and scratch removal were demonstrated.
ExpressScan attracted particular interest among the participants. This feature significantly reduces scanning times, making it especially useful for quickly building extensive digital archives. The non-destructive HDRi RAW data format was also presented in detail. It preserves all image information captured during scanning, including infrared data, and enables subsequent processing without altering the original data.
To conclude the session, SilverFast HDR Studio gave the students an insight into the professional post-processing of their scans. It combines color restoration, color management, and precise image optimization with the efficient processing of large image collections—providing a seamless workflow from the analog original to the fully optimized digital image.
Following the positive response, the Akademie für Fotografie and LaserSoft Imaging agreed to continue their collaboration. Both partners look forward to future joint projects.
