"My favorite for converting and adjusting digital camera RAW files remains the LaserSoft SilverFast DC applications from the inexpensive SE version through VLT to the professional PRO Studio. Besides having the familiar interface and tools I've preferred for scanning, it is the only RAW camera file application I know of that offers a variable control to identify and eliminate color casts, as well as the ability to selectively use HSL adjustment to just one segment of the color spectrum without effecting the overall color balance of the image. SilverFast DC may not be the slickest interface for convenient pre-editing, but it makes up for it in precise, sophisticated adjustment controls producing the best image quality for me."

Of all the raw conversion software that's available to amateur and advanced amateur photographers one of the most overlooked is LaserSoft's (www.silverfast.com) SilverFast DC VLT (Virtual Light Table) that also lets you archive your photographs, add comments to image files, lay out albums or contact sheets, and print pictures in different sizes. DC VLT works with JPEG, TIFF, and raw files to adjust the color balance, saturation, smoothness, and sharpness instead of using the camera's automatic settings. In addition to these formats, DC VLT supports the all-but-forgotten Photo CD as well as the emerging Adobe DNG (Digital Negative) format.

Samsung en combinaison avec SilverFast DC VLT : La GX 1S ainsi qu'également d'autres caméras numériques de Samsung sont livrées avec le logiciel pour caméras SilverFast DC VLT. De la sorte, les acheteurs d'une Samsung Digimax et DSLR récentes ont à leur disposition l'outil adéquat pour le traitement de leurs données brutes. En outre, ils peuvent aussi profiter de l'option d'une optimisation bon marché sur le SilverFast DCPro professionnel, avec la cible incluse pour le profilage de la caméra. SilverFast DC VLT donne au photographe une idée des possibilités d'un profilage de caméra professionnel. On a intégré exceptionnellement au logiciel combiné à Samsung un JobManager avec traitement par lot. Après une optimisation sur SilverFast DCPro, le photographe peut établir différents profils ICC pour sa caméra à l'aide d'une cible, et après la prise de vue les appliquer aux fichiers bruts de sa caméra. Le logiciel combiné aux caméras Samsung, issu de la maison LaserSoft Imaging n'est pas limité aux bolides coréens et japonais.

Le logiciel Photosmart propre à HP est fourni dans le paquet. L'application de numérisation du Scan Pro est décevante - Elle est très automatisée avec seulement des commandes d'arrêt basiques du contrôle automatique. Il est donc sensé d'utiliser en toute circonstance le logiciel de numérisation SilverFast Ai qui lui est largement supérieur. Il vous fournit des contrôles absolumment professionnels des couleurs et de la densité, en plus une numérisation par lot. A cela s'ajoute un logiciel de suppression des poussières, bien qu'assez rares. Les composantes de Adobe Photoshop sont fournies pour Mac ou Windows avec les deux modèles.

Epson's 4990 Scanner, SilverFast Ai Studio 6, & photographing Hurricane

...Harris Fogel et John Woodin ont passé en revue le Scanner Pro Epson 4990 Perfection et SilverFast Ai Studio et ont trouvé que c'était une excellente solution de numérisation pour pellicules et tirages, et John a passé en revue le Hasselblad H1 avec l'Imacon 132C noir numérique, lequel avait été utilisé pour photographier les désastres causés par l'ouragan Katrina à la Nouvelle-Orléans. Raw Converter Software

LaserSoft's approach to digital camera raw file conversion and adjustment is an adaptation of their very successful scanner driver application, SilverFast Ai 6 and SE. This makes it a particular advantage to the many scanner users who have experience with SilverFast because the tools and functions are essentially the same. There is, in fact, little real difference between the raw data produced by a scanner's CCD and the raw data produced by a digital camera once the latter is translated and opened into a preview in SilverFast DC's work space. LaserSoft's SilverFast DC VLT has a price of $85 and provides support for 50 of the most popular digital camera makes and models.
