Dear valued SilverFast User,

apart from supporting the 35mm scanners Coolscan IV and V ED, Super Coolscan 2000, 4000 ED and 5000 ED, now also the medium format scanners LS-8000 and LS-9000 are fully supported unter Mac OS X 10.5 - IntelMacs included - with SilverFast 6.6.

Scratch and dust removal are achieved by using SilverFast´s iSRD function, using the scanner´s IR channel for detection and correction of defects without any kind of ´image´ smoothing - the scans are sharper and more details of the film-grain are retained.

watch_video_en Even Kodachrome slides may now use the iSRD function to professionally remove scratches and dust. By means of the patented SilverFast Multi-Exposure feature the dynamic range of the images may be greatly increased. Since SilverFast´s Multi-Exposure is able to obtain a density of 4,2D the full dynamic range of Kodachromes (up to 3.8D) can be captured - without SilverFast´s Multi-Exposure, the LS-5000 generally reaches a dynamic range of about 3,3D.

SilverFast Multi-Exposure increases the number of visible shades of gray from 3388 to an incredible 17378, based on the ISO Norm 21550 standard.

Nikon Filmscanner are now addressed directly without any detour through the MAID-module.

Nikon officially announced some time ago that NikonScan will not be supported any more for Mac OS. Official announcement

"Start enjoying the incredible creative freedom that comes with digital technology today!"
