1. Prior to install SilverFast Ai please completely delete older versions of SilverFast.
2. Please DO NOT INSTALL NikonScan 3.1 subsequently after having installed SilverFast on your computer as NikonScan will possibly overwrite files that are commonly used and will replace them with older versions of those files !
3. If using SilverFast with model Nikon LS2000 the Chip-release (Firmware release) of that scanner must be ver. 1.31. Please refer to www.nikontechusa.com

How to uninstall SilverFast and all relevant Nikon files?

Location(s) of SilverFast program files:

SilverFast as Photoshop plug-in installs in

(Macintosh) ...Adobe / Photoshop / Plugins / Import-Export / on PCs sometimes also directly under ...Plugins Delete the entire folder "SilverFast(NikonM)"

(Windows) use the system’s uninstall routine first and subsequently search for remnants of SilverFast here: ...Adobe / Photoshop / Plugins / Import-Export /

SilverFast as TWAIN Plug-in installs in
(PC) drive / windows resp. winNT / TWAIN_32 / LaserSoft /
(Mac) drive / System folder/ Preferences / TWAIN /
Please verify this path.

Location of Nikon communication files:
(Mac) start drive / system folder / preferences / Nikon Maid
delete the entire "Nikon Maid" folder
(Win) :\Program Files\Common Files\Nikon\Maid Mods

delete the entire "Maid Mods" directory

Location(s) of Nikon device drivers (Mac) start drive / system folder / system extensions
delete all extensions with the word Nikon in it’s name.

delete these files if any of them still exists:

delete these files if any of them still exists:

File 'F:\WINNT\INF\NKSCN2K.INF'

Having done all this restart your computer, re-install your SilverFast Ai ver.5.5 and restart your computer again. SilverFast is now correctly installed.
