Support Assistant (FAQ)
The Prescan.

SymptomSymptom:
Why is a prescan necessary?

SolutionSolution:
The prescan is the base for all changes you perform on an image.
It defines the histogram which is the base for setting highlights and shadows.
It therefor provides the data necessary for the image auto adjustment.
The area used for the calculations is based on the red scan frame.

The settings for the prescan are located in the preference's special tab.
They for example allow you to decide wether you want to automatically perform a Multi-Exposure prescan.

In the prefernces' general tab you can select if a flatbed scanner should perform a higher resolution prescan.
This can make switching between images faster.

Additionally many tools (e.g. iSRD, AACO,...) offer the 1:1 preview.
This is done in the full resolution to have better control over the result.
Some tools require this mode to show their result at all.
