I can not select transparency mode.

SymptomSymptom:
Clicking the "refelctive" button does not do anything. I can not select Negative or Kodachrome for the film material.

ProblemProblem:
The driver can not detect the transparency unit (TU) of your scanner. It only reports the reflective mode as being available.

This happens when the scanner loses it's connection to the transparency unit.

SolutionSolution:
  1. Shut down the scanner and SilverFast.
  2. Unplug the cable connecting the transperncy unit in the lid to the chassis of the scanner.
  3. Replug the cable and restart the scanner.
  4. When the scanner is ready restart SilverFast.
  5. The transparency option should be available again.

If not please check if the manufacturer software can perform a transparency scan.
