Support Assistant (FAQ)
Scans too dark, but preview had been okay

SymptomSymptom:
While on the SilverFast preview the lightness of my scans was shown correctly, the final scans are displayed too darkish in my graphics app (e.g. Photoshop).

ProblemProblem:
Probably you are scanning in "48 bits HDR color" mode.
This generates unmodified scans at at basic gamma 1.0 value.

The HDR scan modes are intended to be further processes by the "SilverFast HDR" or the "SilverFast DCPro" software.
Only these applications are able to display the image correctly after the scan in SilverFast defaults settings.

SolutionSolution:
Either you don't use the "48 bit HDR color" mode (which also deactivates all other image optimization tools) and scan in either "48 bits color" or "48>24 bits color" mode.

Or you want to enable the option "for HDR output" on the "General" tab of the SilverFast options dialogue.
Note that while this will scan at normal gamma value setting even in HDR scan modes, you still cannot use any other image optimization tool.

My problem is now solved. My problem is still not solved.
