SilverFast 8 for Epson Perfection V800 & V850Dear customer, To achieve the best possible results from your EPSON V800/850 please read the following instructions: The infrared channel used for the iSRD scratch and dust removal is only available in normal transparency mode. Always use the included film holders for normal slide and film transparency scanning. These make sure that the film is positioned in the correct hight for the scanner's fix-focus unit. To optimize sharpness the holders have adjustable feet. Make sure these always are in the same position. During normal scanning they should be in the lowest position. Make sure the holders are positioned correctly, so the calibration area is in the right position. In case you need to scan larger images your device offers a wide area transparency mode. This mode is able to scan almost the entire glass plane. The scannable area is larger in this mode, but does not offer the infrared scratch and dust removal feature. This mode places the focus at the glass plane so place the film directly on the glass without a holder. When doing this, keep an eye out for newton rings which may show up on the final scan. Make sure the calibration area always remains undisturbed. It is located in the first 2-3cm of the glass plane viewed from the hinges. The normal film holders show an empty area. For the larger transparency mode EPSON has included a plastic bar to mark the area. The SilverFast frame finding is now fully adapted to the new V800 anti-newton film holders.
