2.1.1 Scan Preview

SilverFast creates a preview of the scan frame to be processed when you click the magnifier icon. This preview is captured with just enough resolution to fill the working area on the screen. That allows SilverFast to keep the data volume for the preview image low, which has a positive effect on how fast SilverFast works. All changes to the individual tools are applied live to the preview, so changes can be evaluated immediately. Even if the final scan result is to be very large, this technology allows you to effectively use SilverFast on normal, not especially powerful hardware. Below, we'll primarily be looking at how different tools and filters work based on a 30-year-old photo. At the end, the image will be optimized to the point that it can be scanned. A comparison of the initial state with the final state will make it obvious how much image information is still available in this yellowed photo.
